The Lazy Gits Guide to getting a job
Step 1. Get a degree. Fail to get the requisite grade to get into a Ph.D. course.
Step 2. Get into Ph.D. course anyway, due to some nifty technicalities. Try not to break any equipment worth more than oooh, say, £20000. Do really significant experiments (doss around) for three years.
Step 3. Suddenly realise that out of the morass of data collected, a thesis needs to be fashioned. Use a lump hammer if necessary
Step 4. Hang around for nine months or so writing guff until you get a job as a post-doc.
Well, it worked for me...
The institution in question is Glasgow University, (email [email protected]) where I've spent most of the last nine* years or so. I quite like it there.
