Two years on, I might a bit more experienced to enable me to actually finish this.
Though, as it's 2.07 am, not sure I'll do anything with it right now but can't sleep.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted May 26, 2006
Hi Emmily. There seems to be a horizontal line in this, with two articles, one above the line and one below it, hastily stuck together. You'll have to remove the line and join things together more smoothly.
Concentrate at this stage on getting the headers right. Then when you're happy with the headers, move the content to match the headers, ruthlessly removing anything that doesn't match the header. This way, the whole thing will read better. Remember, it shouldn't be "Everything I know about Sean Bean", it should be "Everything you want to know about Sean on a quick reading, plus a bit more detail at the end".
The very first paragraph, which by h2g2 rules doesn't have a header, should be a summary of Sean Bean for someone who has never heard of him. It shouldn't start with "Sean Bean was born..", it should start with "Sean Bean is an actor...".

Gnomon, and for confusing you. I should have said that this was almost as it was when I gave up on it and removed it from PR nearly two years ago. The divided where I had changed, and where still needed to be changed/deleted.
I hope the revised version is an improvement. I've still more additions and changes to make, but it's quite difficult to find recent info about Sean, I'll have to dig deep, somewhere.
Ah, I have a question - I have this, possibly old-fashioned idea, that I have to call the men by their surname, and the woman by their first name. I've used Sean in the Entry, do I need to change the Sean(s) to Bean(s)?

Secretly Not Here Any More Posted Jun 29, 2006
Might be worth noting that in honour of his achievements Sheffield Hallam University gave him an honorary degree in something. Can't remember what like, but I can look it up for you. Other than that, couldn't you mention his most famous tv shows and films? Stuff like Sharpe, When Saturday Comes, Goldeneye, Lord of the Rings? What about the fact American film makers seem to love killing him?

I somehow managed to lose some of the info I had, including info on RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) and his Fencing achievements that helped with scenes in Sharpe.

Cyzaki Posted Jun 29, 2006
"On his right shoulder he has a tattoo with the word Elvish meaning nine, from Lord of the Rings."
Surely the word 'elvish' doesn't mean 'nine' - the tattoos eight of the nine LOTR stars had was the word nine *in* elvish.

Okay Cyzaki, I remember where I got that info from, I'll take a look see if I misinterpreted it.

How's it going? To me, looks very close to done. I think with a slightly different intro paragraph and a bit about how he's always a baddie in US films (and then they like killing him, LOL!) it would be fine for PR, does anyone agree? I also think the stuff at the end about his future projects are a bit worrying because that'll go out of date pretty soon (if it hasn't already...)
I'm sure we'll be seeing this in the EG soon

Hmmm the going out of date, and possible constant updating is one of the reasons I'm re-thinking whether this entry is a good idea or not.

Why? If a few bits need updating in six months, so what? Everything needs updating eventually, so why lose a good Entry on that basis? That's why we have an update forum.

I dunno, it's very hard to keep them updated. For example I wrote a few entries on actors and stuff and even though I tried not to add too much future stuff, they're all pretty out of date already. Is it easy to add updates? I haven't been around for a while because I'm not sure.
Maybe just cut out the stuff about his specific future projects and say he's still acting, that's vague enough...I really think this would be fine for the EG...

Skankyrich [?] Posted Nov 3, 2006
It's very easy. You can suggest short additions to Editorial Feedback without having to go through the update process. There's only the last three sentences that would date, anyway.

Do they add stuf through Editorial Feedback? I seem to remember trying a couple of times and my posts just disappeared.
I have a few entries to update - my actor ones and the Snicket books, I think.
Anyway...do you think this would be better off in PR for some more comments?

Skankyrich [?] Posted Nov 3, 2006
Yes, Curators and/or Italics can make changes through EF - the system is a lot quicker now that we can do it as well as the Italics, so most things are dealt with very efficiently now.
I hope Emmily will move it to PR when she's finished the sections she still has to add

Hmmm I think maybe I too much, and take too much notice of what is said. I read someone being criticised for writing a similar Entry about a current actor, as their career was on-going, so thought this would be seen as the same. Which I now see as being daft, book shops shelves are full of biographies of current actors/actresses and personalities.
I think it's nearly finished, I'll try to finish it over the weekend.

You'd be able to write about very little if that was the case. You wouldn't be able to write about anything scientific, because new theories and research come up all the time. You wouldn't be able to write about any place in case any of it got developed or destroyed. you wouldn't be able to write a 'How To...' entry in case someone invented something or found an easier way to do it. You wouldn't be able to write about anything historical, in case they found fresh evidence.
You get my drift here?

When I had an actor entry, I think Haley Joel Osment, in PR, some people thought it would be best waiting till the end of the career, but the problem was that might be 40 or 50 years down the track! No reason something shouldn't be written about now just because it's going to continue.
Anyway, we can have this debate in PR...when you put the entry in!

Emmily ~ Roses are red, Peas are green, My face is a laugh, But yours is a scream Posted Nov 5, 2006
Hmmm, problem is, Sean is a very private person, as far as I'm aware he doesn't give interviews, and doesn't appear on 'chat shows' so I'm not sure there's much in the way of quotes from him. I've got some on Sharpe DVDs, but there's two Entries about Sharpe, and I don't want to include anymore about Sharpe in this Entry.
I'll see if I can find any quotes from him though.
Looks like I'm not gonna get this finished this weekend, it's been around for around four years, (I think) so another week or so won't make much difference.
Sean does voice overs for adverts, and appeals for blood donors, is that what's called a 'government information film' or something like that, have I got that term correct?
