Just a brief entry on a man who touched my life only briefly before he died, but inspired me greatly.

Yes, It *was* brief. It left me wanting more. Definitely.
He was a brilliant, enthusiastic man. You could perhaps give a bit more home background and mention stuff like 'Carry on up the Khyber'.
A nice piece of writing.

Carry On Up the Khyber is *definitely* worth a mention. He was also a pretty mean jazz trumpeter, too.
Good entry, like it.

Good start! My personal enduring memory of Roy Castle was singing (live) the Record Breaker's theme tune and playing his trumpet.
"Dedication's what ya need....!"

Wonder if Jimster is deliberatley trying to stela my thunder I've only just started researcher an entry on Record Breakers.

I agree - this one could definately use some more content. wasn't he in another Carry On film or two besides 'Khyber'? And several other films besides? I think he was in that 'silent' film 'A Home of Your Own'... no, that was Richard Bryers.
Oh, he must have done lots of things that I can't bring to mind right now

I agree that this entry needs more content. He played in jazz clubs for a long time before he got into television. He was also in The Plank if I remember correctly.
I don't think he was in any more Carry On films, but he's been in some musicals (I think).
I was disapointed in the Record Breakers link. Bah, boring BBC, what happened to dedication is what you need? I wonder if the song is on the Beeb site anywhere else?
And I remember watching him break some of those records when I was a kid.

As I've written so many MASSIVE entries, this was another attempt at writing a deliberately SHORT one. Curse you lot!!
I've added a few more little bits, including refs to two more of his films - though I should point out his complete filmography is available via the IMDB link.
Just for Mina, I've also included a link to TV Cream's theme tune download page. As a special treat, if you scroll down, you can also get the COMPLETE version of the theme tune to Rainbow from there, extra verses and everyfink! There's a cornucopeia of tunes there, so no excuse for not including links to this page on future TV-related entries...

Jimster since the introduction of Peer Review you can no longer write a deliberately short one by missing out important facts you should know that. Look at the Old JimiX, Demon Drawer or Bluebottle articles compared to our current output.

(Do we have a 'raises handbag' smiley?)
I don't think I have 'deliberately' missed out any facts. And I certainly don't think I can be accused of doing that ever (the reverse if probably more accurate - take a look at... well, pretty much everything I've written since I started here; masive case of textual incontinence).
This has still got a week to go, and if anyone comes up with anything that isn't covered in the entry I'll gladly add to it, but as entries don't *have* to be definitive, just accurate, I think mentioning his music, dancing, acting, TV work, record breaking and charity work - plus all of the links I've included - does cover a lot of ground.
Actually, doing that list there, you've reminded me that I've not mentioned his faith. I'll add that right now.

TV Cream
When that website first became well known there were reports that whole trading floors came to a halt in The City as dealers sent the url to each other
It definately merits a link in almost any entry concerning a British tv programme.

TV Cream's a guilty pleasure of mine - just spending time listening to those theme tunes evaporates hours.
It's entirely possible that TV Cream is actually responsible for Earth's first experiments in time travel. Certainly when I log off from it, I find I'm a good few hours into my own future!

I'd still like to see a bit more. Did you say you were going to put a bit about his faith in?
Typo - becomming > becoming.

Strange, I must have missed it. to have a look.
Is there more that you could say about his family backgound, eg brothers and sisters, why he went into showbiz, early musical career?
