A Conversation for Talking Point: Predictions for the Future
The Local Community

I believe the local community will become a tighter stronger bond to people as more and more will be working out of their homes on computers via the internet.
It will be the outlet for interaction as commuting will give way.
Children will be home schooled with programs geared for distance learning.
Our society will be larger in a global respect but our daily interactions will remain close to home so the pendulum of the nuclear family will swing back to its basics.
More people will want to avoid traffic congestion and opt to walk to convenient locations for shopping and entertainment.
We will come into contact with those around us and develop relationships based on close proximity.
In this way, the channels of electronic communication have not only allowed us to reach out but to regain a focus on each other.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
