A very large, loud argument
War is a phenomenon found all over the world, which, despite its major negative aspects, seems to be very popular among Heads of State, who even then don’t join in, but sit back and write the rules.
Quite often wars are undertaken because of a conflict of interest or ideals. A good example of this is the current "war" between the Al Quaeda and America, Al Quaeda are Muslim and believe America to be "The Great Satan" while America are just pissed Al Quaeda flew planes into there buildings1. Wars can also be undertaken due to a good, or bad, relationship between two countries. Britain joined World War One because Germany, on route to attacking France, passed through Belgium, which Britain had sworn to protect.
Types of War
Civil
Not, as the name would suggest, a war where there’s no bad feelings, and every one is terribly polite. Basically a war between two parts of the same country.
World
With several countries on each side, Commonly Germany and some other mid-European countries, against Britain, France, Russia and America.
Covert
Generally done with a small number of troops with very specific aims which leads to little or no loss of civilian life.
Chess
A war which can be fought by any two people anywhere2but doesn’t actually have people dying or buildings being destroyed.
Bloody Stupid
While some wars are necessary, some are just Bloody Stupid. The majority of wars come under this heading, especially during the Middle Ages.
