A Conversation for Physical Football - Bend It Like Roberto Carlos
Reverse Swing

Hello -
I like (a lot) the way your article on the way Roberto Carlos bends the ball is written. Also very informative.
Carlos seems to get into a lot of World XIs but I bag for Paolo Maldini.
Now, Cricket, and I would like to know something about Reverse Swing if at all possible. It seems that every time the Pakistanis are getting reverse swing (after about 45 overs), the batsmen complain that the white ball is too dirty and the Umpires agree to swap it for one that won't reverse swing. What's all that about then? It seems that the ball should swing one way, but because of some bizarre physics (Reynolds Number?) it swings the other.
Thanks for your insight.
Thanks,
