Surprised nobody has picked up on this. It seems true what the original posting suggests - the word you've never heard of or don't often hear suddenly popping up two or three times in a couple of days - then it's gone.
Here's a word, more or less at random from the dictionary as a kind of experiment. Not that that many people will read this but anyway nothing ventured and all that...so here's your word:
