A Conversation for Nick Hornby - Author

I loved "About a Boy" and "High Fidelity"!!!

Marian the Librarian

Hello everyone smiley - rose,

I just wanted to type that I loved the movies "High Fidelity" and "About a Boy" (just saw "About a Boy" last night), and I loved the book "About a Boy". Nick Hornby is awesome!! smiley - biggrin Was I the only one who thought Hugh Grant played the role of Will superbly? smiley - smiley Although I've liked Hugh Grant in some other movies ("Notting Hill", for instance), I really liked this different role for him--who'd have though Hugh Grant could have played a cad so convincingly? He was hysterically funny!! smiley - wow

Is anyone else a fan of Nick Hornby? I would assume the person who wrote this entry (great job, by the way smiley - smiley) is a fan, but I hope this will be the start of a "Nick Hornby and his books/films" forum. smiley - smiley I laughed at loud at "About a Boy" last night, and I was much happier that, unlike the film "High Fidelity" (which I did enjoy), this story was created in London, England, and it stayed in London, England. Best of all, I saw and recognized some areas of London that I had seen of my two previous trips there, and now I'm hyped more than ever to intern there this spring (I start in January). If you want to know more about that, just go to my personal page! Have a great day, everyone! smiley - cheerup

Yep, big fan of Nick Hornbysmiley - smiley

(I wrote the entrysmiley - winkeye)

I haven't finished reading About a Boy yet, I'm trying to before I see the film, and thus explaining why the entry isn't completed yet.

High Fidelity is one of my favourite films...and I relate with Rob a lot (despite being a girl) I think the move to Chicago (I think it was), although a shame as it would have been set equally well in Islington London worked well. I like John Cusake was the perfect actor for the part.

Fever Pitch I loved the film and then found the book disappointing as they were completely different.

And How to Be Good is looming over the edge of my book shelf screaming to be read.

Must get the All Angels book.

THanks for telling me what you thought of my entry, I shall be finishing it and hopefully submitting it at some point over the next few weeks...if I can get the film and get through the books ASAPsmiley - winkeye

i tried to like it, and i did, but i'm not very good at reading books in an unusual format, and the start of this was like that, to me. but i persevered, and liked it nonetheless

i tyhink my favourite was about a boy, but i have to say, in the film they cocked it up completely by changing the ending. but hugh grant was made for the part of will. have i already said that?
