Entry: Sex and evolution - A773705
Author: Andrew Wyld - U196900
Hi there,
I'm working on this and am about halfway through (so be lenient!) but I've put in descriptions of meiosis and mitosis as best I remember them from GCSE biology eight years ago. Theyr'e probably substantially inaccurate.
I'm not worried about getting in things like the DNA in the chromosomes uncoiling and all that, but I am keen to get what I've got there in the right order. Extra steps would probably just confuse the issues, although a separate article on both processes should obviously aspire to greater completeness. AAANYway,
- have I put the point at which cell DNA redoubles in bacteria in the right place?
- have I got anything else obviously in the wrong order, or said something grossly misleading?
Thanks
Andrew

We've got to stop meeting like this...

(In all seriousness, have you checked out Hoovooloo's Evolution project? It's at A730522 and could be a good place to recruit some help to this thread...)

Hey, that's MY line!
Or to be exact, Barbra Streisand's in What's Up Doc.
So what are you doing behind a souvenir of San Francisco?
Will check out the project ... I'm genuinely curious about this, would love to know.
May even expand this into some full-blown stuff on cells.

To be honest, the Collaborative Workshop is supposed to be more for entries in the style of "This week's topic" - entries that actively seek a bunch of responses and opinions and anecdotes - so I'm not sure this entry is well-placed here. You'd be better off just chatting to Hoovooloo and similar folks on a 1-2-1 basis.

Oh, nice to have met you, btw

Ah, OK -- so where's good to go for advice on this? (In general -- hey, are you still Hoovooloo's beyatch? Is beyatch an acceptable alternative spelling, or will I be M*******d?)
Nice to meet you also -- keep up the good nail-polish work. I'm off to get my entire physically apparent surface hammerited.

That's a very odd list. In particular the inclusion of certain words and the omission of others is beyond puzzling. The embargo on the word twit in particular, that is a puzzle. Or perhaps they mean t**t. Who can say. They are indistinguishable from the description given on the site.
Let's see which one gets moderated, shall we?

Guessed as much ...
... which, of course, is why I typed t**t.
Incidentally, I think it's a much more imaginative way to deal with it that t**t.
I'm pretty sure I've seen twot, too, though I forget where. They're all basically the same word, though only the prohibited one is well-known as such.
Why is arse permitted but a******e forbidden? And since I used a space, is this moderable or not?

I can see that a space isn't enough to make the hole in the arse acceptable, then! Periphrasis is necessary. It's a pity they won't swallow the expression containing "arse" whole
Would farthole or such be equally offensive, I wonder? Since asshole appears to be OK I imagine not.
