A Conversation for Ian Fleming - An appreciation

Comprehensive

A very nicely detailed review that concisely presents the facts with a subtle undertone of admiration from an obviously intelligent and appreciative reader. I particularly enjoy the fresh spicing of anecdotal evidence of the writer's humanity.

I was surprised at how compelling the flow of information (both known and newly interesting) became as I found myself reading forward in an excited, rushing sort of way. The voice of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was heard again admitting sheepishly just how big a fan he had become; an endorsement that gave the Bond books a huge American following and probably precipitated the movie phenomenon (and sadly, I've just learned, Fleming's death).

May I suggest that the subjective pronoun 'he' should replace 'him' in the line about his affair with Blanche. Beyond that I find no fault and can only applaud and offer my support to this being accepted as a Guide Entry - altho obviously I should be doing that in the proper PR thread shouldn't I... Ah well. Thank you John, for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed it. You are obviously a fan. There is tons on the Internet about Fleming/Bond:

http://www.klast.net/bond
http://www.007forever.com
http://www.hmss.com/books/fleming/
http://www.commanders.com
http://home.earthlink.net/~atomic_rom/007/thunderb.htm

If you haven't visited these they are well worth it, and have a good focus on the books. The final web site above detailes all the alcoholic drinks Bond consumes throughout the novels - an interesting site however some people have far too much time on their hands!
