Theoretically it should be possible to look at any event in the past, no matter how far back you go. When we look into the night sky we are looking at events that took place many years ago, sometimes many millions of years ago, because of the time it takes for the light of these stars to reach us.
So, my desired invention is a device which shows events on Earth as they occured... Can you imagine the impact of something like that on our level of knowledge?

No affence intended but don't they call that The History Channel? Sorry couldn't resist that, but a good idea in theory yes, but also remember in theory it's possible to balance a whail on the tip of a pencil then balance the other end of the pencil on an egg...shortened version everything works in theory.
