Academy, boarding – Superfluous comma

in1929. – missing space

All the 'curly' apostrophes need to be changed to straight ones.

Otherwise it's rather good!

smiley - cheers

Paully

I think Mr Dreadful was referring to the 1981 pop song, 'Bette Davis Eyes' by Kim Carnes, and cross-referencing it with the old British sports presenter, Dickie Davies..!

Close but no cigar, Paully... I was referencing 'Dickie Davis Eyes' by Half Man Half Biscuit simply because every time I see or hear the name Bette Davis I end up thinking of that song.

Hmmm - Just wondering if a separate section at the end for her best-known films (a 'selected filmography') and one for the major awards she won might be useful?

Perhaps also more stuff about the romances and professional rivalries in her life?

Paully

no offence but that really does bug me about people that they jump to assumptions about what others think when they don't have their minds. My bf constantly does it to me! smiley - sorry feel the need for pointing this out as I am not amused by anyone close to me at the mo.

Thanks for the advice I shall look into it.

Smij - Formerly Jimster

"a prominent figure of women’s rights in the male dominated film industry of her time."

It wasn't so much she was a campaigner for women's rights so much as she just wanetd her own way; there was little altruism attached to this.

I agree with Paully that this is a little sparse. Take a look at this article from BBC Film:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2000/08/03/bette_davis_article.shtml

Also, her entry at the Internet Movie Database:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000012/

And her estate's official website:
http://www.bettedavis.com/

And you can't really have an entry about Bette Davis without a piece on her 'divine feud' with Joan Crawford. There's an excellent book on the subject that's one of the most thrilling on-going feuds in cinema history.

Gnomon - time to move on

Are you still working on this entry, Opti?

If so, have a look at your use of sentences starting with "While". Many of them are not complete sentences.
