Having just discovered that there are also two Bank Holidays in the Netherlands, my mother is panicking that there will be nothing open for us to go and visit during our stay there.
Can anyone reassure her, that there will be something to do?
She'd also quite like to know the weather forecast, as she wants to visit Floriade.
She doesn't want much, my mum.

Right - second question first...
Just looking at the forecast now. It looks to be going to be a little rainy up to Saturday, when the forecast is sunny. Unlike the UK, the rain doesn't usually last long and is quite light - so it shouldn't spoil her enjoyment. Temperature around 17 but rising to 20 by the w/end.
re Bank holidays - I think she is getting confused with last month which had the Queens b/day celebrations. We had Whitsun hols LAST w/end
Mind you, as in the UK, most attractions stay open for BH's.
She should find everything open and plenty to do.

(Now my brain is fuzzy translating all that Dutch weather forecast! )
*Off to lie down for a bit *

Thanks a lot Shazz!
I've emailed that to my mum, to calm her down.
Looks like we might be at Floriade on Friday, so I might still have to get a train. One of those things where it depends on the weather! But I'll keep in touch as much as I can.

Jfyi, it is really quite warm and pleasant out here today - even with a cloudy sky. I used my bike a fair bit yesterday and, despite a few showers, it was extremely nice.
My logistics are all over the place atm, anyway - so it will be a hoot sorting it all out.

I'm looking forward to coming. I don't think I'll be bringing my shorts, but it'll be nice if I can wander around without a coat.
Did you enjoy your lay down?

Actually I was hoovering de zolder (the loft)
S*ds law dictated that I didn't have a spare new bag, so had to empty the old one! yuk!

I'm so sorry to let you down. I hate doing that. And I'd been so looking forward to seeing everyone.

My parents are still going, and they are taking J, so I don't have to worry about dealing with him as soon as I come out of hospital.
He only came back from a trip with his dad last night - and he's off again without me. It seems like I've hardly seen him the last few weeks.

A rotton, miserable time for you all in all then.
To make matters worse (for you, but not your mum) the weather is glorious here now. I think she may be very lucky - it would probably be wise to tell her to pack suncream for J

Sunny? Hmpf. Typical!
I'll pack his suncream, hat, shades, and shorts then. Thanks for the tip!
I will be coming over some other time though! You won't be able to keep me away! Muahahahaha!
*sulks about missing the party*

Anytime you make it over will be a party
Maybe we can co-ordinate it that you are over when we are running the bar and DJ'ing, or TM's band are playing...
The band last Friday were excellent - the Band Kabaal this Friday will probably be rather noisy and pretty awful in the main!

I'll try and come over on a Thursday next time. It'll probably have to wait until August, due to not being able to fly for 6 weeks, and then having to go on my summer holiday. I'll pick a good weekend.

shazzPRME Posted May 28, 2002
Hmmm - the mainhall of Kasteel is usually closed in August, but the café carries on regardless
Temps look like reaching 24+ by the weekend - good for your mum but annoying for you

Closed? Then maybe I can squeeze in before the hols. I'll have to see how the finances are stretched by then. I have all these euros that I can't spend now...

Wednesday and Thursday would be even better . I'm running the bar on Wednesday, together with Erik (my friend who came along last time), and the Thursday is TM and Shazz, so that means double fun !!

I'll see what I can do - it's not going to be before August, and possibly September, depending on how much I spend on holiday. When's the Dutch meetup?
