Romance is great but it needs to be tempered with reality.
The name Twice Brewed possibly comes from a Drovers road passing between two brews or hills, the road is still there.. This is the nearest derivation we can get from records. The name appeared before there was a stane building in the area.
Before the present Inn at Twice Brewed the building at East Twice Brewed was the Inn with a date of 1776 over the door. Before this West Twice Brewed was the Inn dating back to the 1600's.
The area is well worth a visit to do your own research. Ideas come good after a few real ales!
