A Conversation for The Salmon Of Doubt
The Salmon of Doubt...La

In the chapter 'Unfinished Business of the Century' Douglas refers to the line in 'do-re-mi' about la (a note to follow so) as a place keeper. He thinks that Hammerstein meant to put something a bit less cop-outy in its place, but couldn't think of anything in time.
How about...La, a French word that means the.
or...La, the next note in the scale.
or...La, half a teletubbie?
Anyone else got any ideas?

I think the song goes like this:
Do, a deer a female deer
Re, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Fa, a long long way to run
So, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow So
Ti, a drink with jam and bread
Which brings us back to Do..
It'll need to describe the word La and rhyme with Doe as well..
LaaLaa, a friend of Dipsy and Po
What do you reckon?

How about using law for la ? Y'know like - la , a way of saying no . (or even - a way of saying know)
