Sounds as though you have money to burn WR. Oh! That's a different kind of dough, init?
Neatly numbered boxes? Have you always been this way or did Lady J break you in?

Good for Lady J! Mind you, that would go a long way to explaining why you have a weird-looking neck and the way that your head flops about when you talk.

Oh dear! Poor WR! Is you mum-in-law *that* bad? Would she really say such a thing about you when you are obviously such a well rounded figure?
I don't know whether or not it's better, but my mum prefers to make snide remarks about my better half instead of direct confrontation. I can never whinge about my hubby to her because she emanates smug mode if I do!

Oh, she did that for 24 years of my marriage - until Lady J told her she didn't want to talk about me anymore. Then MiL gave Lady J the cold shoulder for another year. Lady J and I went over to her place one Sunday to talk it over and try to reconcile things.
What a catastrophe!
She mouthed off every insult she could about me, ending with the comment "...and I don't like you!!" I just said that I'm sorry she feels that way, but I won't hold it against her in her dealings with the rest of my family.
Now she doesn't speak to either of us anymore...because SHE'S too hurt!
If you cannot forgive, you cannot love. When you forgive someone something, you say to them: "I'm not going to allow this event to hurt me anymore!" She is totally unforgiving, unloving and carries the grudges and resentment of her entire life around with her like a brace of dead albatross strung around her neck.
"Don't you like my pearls?" she will ask her friends but I just see dead birds...and I pity her.

What a silly lady your mum-in-law must be to sacrifice contact with her daughter. I assume that she isn't a member of a diplomatic service then?
As my role model Patsy (from Absolutely Fabulous) says, "Have another vodka and walk away!"
