Wow, Bluebottle, that is some project! Excellent work! Is there anything you *don't* know about that fair isle? smiley - cheers

Now, for the annoying details - do you have a Subeditor yet? If not, would you like me to post on the Subs list asking for one? We could sub it in-house - it really doesn't look as if it needs much work at all, but a second and third pair of eyes is always necessary.

Let me know how you'd like it subbed, and we can get it on the Front page ASAP.

Cheers!

I don't mind what you do regarding sub-eds, and getting the article done. My last Uni project was sub-edited in-house, but if you're all a bit too busy then I don't mind if you ask on the sub-eds list. But no, I hadn't asked for one yet.

As for things I don't know about the Island, alas I only know a small fraction of a percentage. I'd need to know everything that happened in the thousands of years since the Island was created in every single town, village and hamlet before I was satisfied, but it's true I know more than most. smiley - winkeye This one took quite a bit of research, though.

Okay - I'll put a question on the Subs email list.

Just been in the Isles of Scilly for a week myself. They are completely stunning, and the 'Island Mentality' is strong there: marvelously friendly people who are rightfully proud of their little corner of the world. And community - that rarest commodity... smiley - smiley

It's true - Islands often have their own way of life, and those who live on them are rightfully proud. The Isle of Wight has a strong sense of community which I've not seen on the mainland, which in many ways is a shame. Afterall, if everywhere in the world ends up identical, there'll be no point in going anywhere. I'm a large supporter of Localisation. smiley - smiley

As for the Anglo-Saxon Isle of Wight project, one thing I forgot to mention yesterday was could you make sure all the links and sub-links are kept in? I spent a lot of time on the menu system, which I feel greatly aids navigating the articles.

Sure - We'll see that they remain intact when we cast our in-house eyes over it just before it goes out.

Konrad Higgins, who is keen on Anglo-Saxon stuff, has volunteered to Sub your project - he'll be by soon to say Hi, and I'll then hand over editing rights of the entries to him as soon as you're happy and ready. You do have a copy of your own elsewhere, don't you, in case something happens to it you don't like (unlikely though this is...)?

Yes - localisation is inescapable, and attractive to me too. Nothing worse than people going to China, say, and ordering egg and chips because they want to take their own culture with them. Same with languages - localisation is reflected there too - everyone, even in neighbouring towns, has their own dialect. Some people are afraid of this kind of thing. "We fear change..." Poor them - it's fighting an uphill battle.

Diversity keeps me in awe of... well, everything. smiley - smiley

Yes, Konrad Higgins has popped by, and has asked me to tell you he's ready, and to add him to your records so that he can start. And yes, I do have an original set of the articles safe and sound.

But yes, I believe in diversity being a good thing. It's far more stimulating, and makes travel enjoyable. I think everyone agrees at heart about this, it's just a matter of degree to how much diversity to allow, as too much can breed dislike, fear, war etc.

Life's never easy smiley - winkeye

Okay - Konrad should now have editing rights over those entries - I'll let him know he can go ahead.
