So ok, I just downloaded an AMV (anime music video) of The Baka Song form Ranma.
So what is the deal with Ranma, why should I see this series? It is just *strange* from that AMV.

AMV have a tendency to be a little misleading, but Ranma is strange, but certainly no stranger than Nadesico.
Art Vandelay is the man you need to speak to - he seems to be the expert on ranma. me? I'd just say it was a good laugh and just go with the flow. Nobody said anime had to be intellectual...

Actually I am just trying to figure out if I should spend any time/money persuing this series. It is *odd* to say the least. I would appreciate a synopsis of the series (in general) and any specifics that you would use to cause me to want to watch the series.

ooh a synapsis? ok
It is an odd series but here is the basic premise.
Ranma Saotome and His father, Genma, go to train ina Cursed Spring in China, due to his fathers inabilaty to read chinese. So they both end up with a curs, Ranma transforms into a Girl when splashed with cold water and Genma a large panda. Well they return to tokyo and to Ranmas displeasure he finds that his father has arranged his marriage to one of Suon Tendos 3 daughters either Kasumi, the homaker, Nibiki, the money loving biusness woman(kinda), or Akane, the tomboy. Kasumi and Nibiki force Akane to marry him because she dosnt like boys and Ranma is half gir anyway. So after a few incidents and Ranma constantly procaiming that his female form is Ten-fold better then akane's body, she comes to Despise him. Later on you find that Ranma is actually engaged to a few other women through his and his fathers acts, all this just causes Akane to hate him more. Ranma also has his fair share of enemies, such as Ryoga, who was knoked into one of the cursed springs by Ranma after following him to China after Ranma left 3 days after they were supposed to have a fight because Ryoga was 4 days late. His curse is that he turns into pig when splashed with cold water. He is in love with Akane, and is usually their to injure Ranma after he does something bad to her. His Pig form is Akane's pet.
