Or Moblie Battleship Nadesico (in the original Japanese) if you prefer.

Anyone here ever see this Anime? It is easily my favourite.

The floor is open for discussion.

Seriously deranged, which is nice, as it isn't always apparent that Asamiya has a sense of humour from some of his other stuff.

On the whole I still prefer Silent Mobius and Steam Detectives, though.

I have missed those thus far. I just dig how MSN is full of humour and self depricating awareness of it's cliches.

Are the other two worthy canidates for my purchase?

Depends on your point of view. Steam Detectives was/is aimed at a younger audience, and Asamiya was forced to go back and re-invent his artistic style for it. I don't think either thing was bad, and I like the steam-punk feel of it.

Silent Mobius works much better as manga than as anime. The anime has never been released in this country, and like some other classics (Bubblegun Crisis comes to mind), it is starting to show it's age in any event. Animation has moved on a lot in the ten years or so since the films were made. But they are still kinda fun, for all that.

The series that seems to me to hold it's own has bee Gundam. I dont really like it much, but for a series dating back to the 70's from what I understand it is fairly good.

I will have to look for the other series next time I go looking. Trouble is that I tend to buy up the full series at once, which gets expensive. I had MSN collected as the discs came out in the states.

BGC2040 is a great series to me. Are you referring to the BGC2030 series?

I was referring to the original Bubblegum Crisis. No dates, just BGC. Still a firmm fan favourites in some parts (my brothers house, for example), but I never got it myself.

Gundam is showing on satellite in this country. God knows which series or when from but it looks more modern in design and execution than '79. I must admit my eyes sort of glaze over when it's on. I'm kinda played out on 'big' series, I must admit.

You would be suprised at the quality. I have the very first series on disc and it is quit modern looking. Much better than it's contemporary "Speed Racer". Gundam gets a bit slow so I stopped watching it.

The original BGC is the one I refer to as BGC2030. With the nene with pink hair from teh early 90's. THe second generation BCG2040 is a great series and I highly recommend it.

Hmm, I might see if I can borrow my brothers copies of BGC, but I don't get a lot of time to watch anime these days. Mina doesn't like most anime (Tenchi being the honourable exception), so I have to watch it when she's out, but if she's out, mostly so am I.

If ever you find it, give it a shot. I am quite suprised at the people who seem to go for it.

I just found out that the BUbblegum crisis box set is released here. I thikn that I have to get it on my next payday. Now I have two BGC discs for sale. heh.

Those were the best smiley - smiley That the characters in the series were either stereotypical Anime freaks or hated Anime fanboys was the crowning acheivement of the series.

The selfaware nature of the show was my favourite part of it.

I just started watching Nadesico again as my discs have been returned to me. I remember now why I love the series so much.
