The image of the tree is very good and quite familiar.

I liked it. But there is one thing that I would change. In the section about the tree metaphore. "Under the microscope, brain cells resemble branches of trees and it is my personal belief that they develop in the same way. " I would have said that "the brain develops in the same way" and then gone on with the bit about the three branches. I don't see EACH cell acting in EACH of those areas, but I can easily see the brain being divided up like that (responsibility wise).

I was finding it quite hard to explain my tree analogy, actually, so thank you for the suggestion, Maria If this does make it to the edited guide I would be happy to include any additions as my words got tangled up at that point

I definitely recommend this piece, however that works. It's truly moving, the healing process being quite familiar. My personal recovery tools: foulweather friends, philosophy, substances (in moderation, I cannot stress enough) and a sense of humour about myself.
