What is, in my opinion, the single best British sitcom ever - Porridge.
Submitted for your approval.

Damn good stuff.
But don't you have a proper job you should be getting on with?

Hehe - working here doesn't quite feel like a day-job yet. Mind you, there are people who'd say my last job wasn't a 'proper' job either.

Excellent stuff, Jimster!
The only flaw I can spot is a bit of duplication: footnotes 5 and 6 both explain that David Jason appeared with Ronnie Barker in 'Open All Hours'. Otherwise, just great!

Great, Jimster!
You could mention that Richard Beckinsale died at the tragically early age of 31 from a heart attack. His wife Judy Loe and daughters Samantha and Kate are also in the acting business...
Porridge co-star Ronnie Barker recalls:
"When I was rung up and told, I burst into tears because it was so outrageous that he should have died. He was suddenly not with us anymore. So loved, there was a universal grief that went on. The audience used to love him. We got on so well together that we were always glad to see each other in the morning for rehearsals."
Thanks also for mentioning my Jack the Ripper entry.

I have actually mentioned Beckinsale's death, in the film section, as it happened just after filming wrapped.
I intentionally didn't mention his family life, because I didn't mention Ronnie Barker's, though I'm a big fan of his widow - she was in a superb series a few years ago called 'Revelations' (playing the monstrous, murderous wife of a bishop) and is now a regular in 'Casualty' (she plays the registrar who's having the affair with Charlie). If I were a casting director I'd keep her in work forever, cos she's brilliant.
His daughter Samantha looks VERY like him, she was great in London's Burning; Kate, of course, is the new English Rose, after Kate Winslett had her shot. I think I'll leave the discussion of his life here, to be honest. It might be a bit out of place in that entry. But should anyone decide to follow it up with an entry about him I'll be sure to link to it.
Ta lots,
Jims

Sorry I missed that bit
I remember Judy Loe in "Singles" she got off with Roger Rees in the end.
She also works as a casting director, I think I've seen her name in several listings.

Shucks...
Well, you only have to wait until this Tuesday for it to be eligible.
Working on a project just now, so I suspect that'll be my last entry for a few weeks...
