Gnomon - time to move on

It looks good! The only bit that doesn't work is your sentence about the Lego Camera and Editing software. You should be able to say a couple of sentences about it without admitting that you don't know anything about it. Have a look at the lego website and see what its official name is. Then put in something like: "There is also a purpose-built camera with editing software available from Lego under the name of ".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're going to transliterate from Danish, Lego should more accurately be written as LeGo - although this is admittedly fiddly on the Shift button smiley - smiley

Hi, Bob!

I think the changes have improved the entry quite a bit. I'd agree with Gnomon's comment - you can mention that the editing software is available without having to say that that's all you know about it.

There's probably one thing worth bearing in mind - if your piece is accepted, it will be allocated to a sub-editor who will edit your entry using British English. It's probably worth coming to a compromise over something like the spelling of 'Lego', because once it gets to the sub, they will change it for you. smiley - erm

I've found some information on the Stephen Speilberg thing. Soon I will update that section.

OK everyone, I did some research on the lego editing software package, and have included the information in the updated entry. What do you think?

ALSO - What happens after the article is ready for entry into the Edited Guide? Does some editor randomly see it and enter it?

What happens is that the inhouse editors have a large collection of articles, and these are then distributed randomly to voluntary sub-editors, four at a time. They then rework them, then send them back to the Towers where they are checked by the inhouse staff. smiley - smiley

There are scouts whose only purpose in life is to pick articles out of Peer Review. They recommend the article to the Editors, who generally accept the recommendation. Your entry will be moved out of Peer Review at that stage. The scout who recommended it is supposed to put a "congratulations" notice here to let you know it's been picked, and you will receieve a notification by e-mail as well. A copy of your entry is made and sent off to a sub-editor. At that stage, you can make no further changes, but you get the original back and you can do anything you like to it. Eventually the sub-editor finishes working on the entry and you will see it appear in your list of Guide Entries, along with your original, and usually with a status of "Pending". Finally, your entry will be mentioned on the Front Page and will change to being "Edited".

You'll be pleased to know that I recommended this entry and it has now gone into the Editorial Process for future inclusion in the Edited Guide. When it does get into the Edited Guide, the editors will email to let you know, but please bear in mind it can take a while for entries to go through the process. Please see this for more details.

If there is anything wrong with my friend, Mr. Grocer,it is not is spelling. He is actually an excellent speller. His use of the words "Color" and "Humor" is perfectly fine.

One great example of the word "Humor" ,spelled as such, is on your local Good Humor truck, or do you people in Britiania not have prosperity enough to afford the luxury of an icecream truck drive by your house on a weekly basis? Mabey you would like to "jump the pond" and tell us how to spell everything else?

Here in America, we have many great things. The Fonze for instance. Totally not in England. That might just be the Irish talking, but I think that your critism of Mr. Grocer's spelling is not in any essence required by even Providence.

In conclusion....
