North End Road, London W14
Created | Updated Apr 7, 2002
North End Road is a grim thoroughfare that heads north (hence the name) from Fulham Broadway to Olympia. Notable for an utter lack of decent bars of any sort, and a plethora of dodgy restaurants of which none is dodgier than Viva, a pink-fronted Portuguese restauarant that does a nice line in tacky Mexican food and cod-Mediterranean singers doing renditions of Verve songs. However, Viva is the only place in North End Road I know where you can purchase bottles of champagne after hours.
Well-known Pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burne-Jones used to live in North End Road in a house called the Grange. This has now been replaced by a council high-rise, also called the Grange. How Sir Edward would have been proud.
