True. I heard of one guy who taught himself Elvish using some stuff in the book. Not sure how true that is though.

That's quite possible. How do you think they got all that Elvish in the films? They didn't pull it out of their bums.

True. Though I can understand learning it for the film. But just for real life's a bit sad.

Why? You have people studying the bilbe, so why not study the works of Tolkien? They're more interesting by far!
Hello
NPY Posted Mar 22, 2005
Depends what you find interesting.
And I suppose why you're studying it would have a lot to do with it as well.

Personally, I'd prefer Tolkien.

OK. he's good. I just found Lord of the Rings really hard to read. Too much stuff seemed to have no bearing on the story.

Yeah, you really ought to read the Silmarillion first, a lot of the things make sense then.

It's the mythology of Middle Earth. LotR is set at the end of the 3rd 'age'. The 1st age is when a lot of stuff happened that has great influence on the events of the 3rd age.

OK. Maybe Tolkien had a bit too much time on his hands.
It's scary the amount of detail he put into LOTR. I heard it took him years to write it all.

I heard it took his son years to figure out all the notes and bits of paper relating to it, too.

Wouldn't suprise me.
Did you know that Tolkien was a great friend of C.S. Lewis, who wrote Narnia?

I've read all his books on Middle-Earth. Is that the sort of person who 'doesn't' watch every liitle thing on the SEE discs?
