my favourite is Silent Night and sung in German even better, I suspect that is where the carol originated, having said that, don't quote me I may be totally wrong..

my favourite movie at Christmas is the Glen Miller Story I my eyes out every time I see it and never get sick of watching it.. good music too and that comes from someone who just bought their first Slipknot album the other week

While studying the German language they taught us Silent Night and Oh Christmas Tree. My German is very rough, though.

I recall O Tannenbaulm, is that correct? Something like that, anyway. I know it offended a neighbour who thought the tune was the same as the Red Flag. and thought we kids were singing we'll keep the red flag flying high. I don't think at 13 I had that interst in politics. Just discovering how interesting girls were, but not politics. Christmas was still fun too.

when I hear Silent Night sung in German it just sounds right, thats why I thought it was German or, of course Austrian... and my friend looked the internet as I wanted to find out, having posted my views without any back up but she only came up with it being accredited to a German sounding name, which I have forgotten already, so much for my back up
