Doesn't seem to be a burning issue for h2g2ites. Is that because the site attracts an unwordly bunch, or that people don't like talking politics on the site? Or are h2g2ites quite normal in not being that interested?

We already talked about it in January, Most of us seem to be in favour of the commission on exchange rates disappearing, so that even if you're using plastic instead of coins, the bank doesn't take a bite every time you pay for anything

Oh, yes indeed we DO get stuffed by the banks for using plastic in different countries - if I use my German card in a French shop, they still charge the 2(?) percent on top of my purchase, for using another country's banking system.
OK, so there's no commission charge, and the banks can't stuff us on the exchange rates, as they did before with 'triangulation' (where you had to convert from, say, DEM to EUR, then EUR to FFR, there arising the opportunity to be stuffed by two exchanges rather than one)
husey (who has just been from Germany to France and back and is very pleased with his euros...)
