WEEK ONE- a new beginning
egon Started conversation Feb 19, 2002
It's the moment we've all been waiting for- season 2 of h2g2 fantasy football. Predictions by Noon on saturday (GMT) please, or I'll take your predictions as all 0-0 draws (or the lowest score by someone who does enter, if this is lower)
Liverpool v Everton
Newcastle v Sunderland
Arsenal v Fulham
Celtic v Aberdeen
Torino v Juventus
Four local derbies in week one (spot the odd one out), what a start.
Good luck.

Unlike Gedge, I will actually enter the fantasy football. My first week predictions:
Liverpool 2-2 Everton (David Ginola)
Newcastle 1-2 Sunderland (kevin Phillips)
Arsenal 4-1 Fulham (Thierry Henry)
Celtic 3-1 Aberdeen (Henrik Larsson)
Torino 2-5 Juventus (David Trezeguet)

Egon, to activate GuideML you have to change the page style from text to GuideML on the edit page. If you've done that then tables and stuff should work like normal HTML.

Do you just write into this thread with your predictions then?

Yep. Like this (only you'll want to try better ones htan these):
Liverpool 2-0 Everton (Owen)
Newcastle 1-0 Sunderland (Bellamy)
Arsenal 1-1 Fulham (Hayles)
Celtic 3-0 Aberdeen (Larsson)
Torino 1-1 Juventus (Lucarelli)
WEEK ONE- a new beginning
Otto Fisch ("Stop analysing Strava.... and cut your hedge") Posted Feb 21, 2002
Hi Egon,
Thanks for your efforts in getting this going again!
Liverpool 1 Everton 1 (Ginola)
Newcastle 3 Sunderland 1 (Shearer)
Arsenal 2 Fulham 1 (Henry)
Celtic 3 Aberdeen 0(Hartson)
Torino 2 Juventus 2 (Trezeguet)
A quick rules suggestion:
I think that successfully predicting an 0 - 0 draw ought to score points for result, score, AND SCORER. I think it didn't include the latter under the ancien regime. Shall we change this for this season?
Best wishes
Otto.

Sounds a good rule to me, I'll add it to the main page

Great Western Lettuce (no.51) Just cut down the fags instead Posted Feb 22, 2002
Here are my choices:
Liverpool 1-0 Everton (Heskey)
Newcastle 1-1 Sunderland (Phillips)
Arsenal 2-0 Fulham (Pires)
Celtic 3-1 Aberdeen (Hartson)
Torino 1-2 Juventus (Trezeguet)
Be very surprised if any of it happens - but worth a crack.
Cheers

You're not the only one, vogonpoet! I too planned to put in my choices this morning, then slept right through the morning after a night on the !
So I guess we'll be in joint last place. Ah well, there's always next week - as we Bradford City fans often say...

P.S. The Celtic-Aberdeen match is in Aberdeen

Ormondroyd Posted Feb 23, 2002
vogonpoet, all I have to say is: Gillingham 0, Bradford 4.
(And that was a result I'd *never* have predicted... )

A similar looking result tomorrow would do nicely
I reckon Newcastle will win 1-2, with sunderland to score first...

Ardzil- I just realised that the Celtic-Aberdeen match is next week. I'll make this week four fixtures and carry the Celtic predictions forward. All you lazy gits who missed the deadline can have a celtic prediction to carry forward- just enter it. That'll make six matches next week.
Saturday's results:
everton 1-1 liverpool (radzinski)
arsenal 4-1 fulham (lauren)
The points totals going into the Tyne-Wear and Turin derbies is:
Me: 4 points (everton result, arsenal score and result)
Otto: also 4 points (everton result and score, arsenal result)
Great Western Lettuce: 1 point (arsenal result)
Greydesk: 1 point (Arsenal result)
Future World Dictator: 0 points (fulham draw? BARRY HAYLES?? Oh well there's always tomorrow)
Vogonpoet, Ardzil, Ormy: Pray for some 0-0s tomorrow
First week tables tomorrow. If anyone can get the code for the tables to work can they post it and I'll try to paste it? i tried it from a diagnostic thingbob but it wouldn't work.

egon Posted Feb 25, 2002
You'll soon slip down when the three who forgot to enter get going.
Remember, I'll carry everyone's Celtic-Aberdeen prediction over to next week. If you didn't make one, you can still have a crack, and if you did you are allowed to change it.
