a blue moon, according to my learning, is when there are two full moons in a month.... usually this occurs in a month with 31 days in it.... in the 20th century there were only 40 blue moons..... there are no blue moons this year.... the blue moon actually refers to the second moon of the month and in magical circles it is very potent.....

hi again, your article was very interesting, and it did get the point across... in theory i don't suppose it really matters if it's two new or two full, as long as there's two moons in one given month..... as you said, the saying means once in a very, very long while....
well there's a full moon tonight i believe, but it's not blue.... and i don't think it's made of cheese either.... lol... well if it was it would be inhabited by mice wouldn't it.... lol....
are you interested in moon magic.... or any other type of magic for that matter... i'm not asking as some kind of lunatic... (another moon related word) i ask because i am.. (interested, that is), my interests cover lots of occult related matters....

Ah, don't get the gist of this article wrong, it is in fact very far from finished and does not yet include most of the content - ie. the bit about two full moons in a month being a blue moon I think two New Moons in a month is a Black Moon but most won't have heard of that. Unfortunately I kind of left this article to moulder well over a year ago and I don't really have the time at present for h2g2 article writing but maybe one day...

Magic wise I love reading fantasy stuff which almost always involves and s and the like but in real life I'm not really a believer I'm afraid. Sorry

hi again.... thanx for your reply... i don't recall hearing of a black moon darling, but it is something to look out for.... i know the period between the third and forth phase is called the dark moon and is a time of reflection...
if i hear anything about your black moon i'll let you know..
