ok let you in on this: I'm about to go for a second round interview with Lotus.
But the've given me this case study to do beforehand, and it takes about "a small engineering services company that has a racing heritage" obviously Lotus and an "OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer (eg GM or SAAB)" joining together to come up with a variant of the OEM's top model extensively re-engineered.
Now my first thought is that they have to be talking about the Lotus Carlton, or have I missed any more recent colabourations.

Ok, with a little searching:
Lotus engineering has recently worked on GMs ECOTEC (Ecology, Economy and Technology) engines - fitted to GM Corsa Astra and Vectra, also, they were involved in the development of the Honda Civic Aerodeck
They were also heavily involved in the Opel Speedster Concept car for the Geneva Motor show in 1999 - which is now under production - being built by Lotus - badged as a Vauxhall VX 220.
(I found the information on www.lotuscars.com (then follow the links page to UK website, engineering, further links then track record
(The whole site is in Frames - so I can't give you the direct address sorry)

Ah, the Hethel test track! It's an interesting one to drive round - I've been there a couple of times.
The first time was a little frightening - we had all been told to be sensible, and keep the pace slow, about 40mph... But the pace car (driven by a Lotus employee) was one of their Motorsport Elises, and they're evidently not built to do 40mph!
