Tic Toc Man

As I was very much into Science Fiction I particularly enjoyed this song by Tom Bouchet

I'll Be Comin' In With The Crabs.
shagbark Posted Feb 3, 2002
A duo from Michigan wrote this song on a bet.
There names were Larry Fray and Jack Kelly
they performed at Beaux Arts under the name "the Brotherhood"
[Copyright material removed by moderator]
I gave them another verse for this but I doubt if they ever used it.
here is shagbarks third verse.
I'm going now to meet my love in the Sargasso sea
I hope nobody's neeted her, I hope that she's still free
I'm going back to sea, going back to sea,
going back to see if she's still there.
I'll Be Comin' In With The Crabs.

Thishickory tree will be very surprized if the moderators can find
either Tom Bouchet or Jack Kelly or Larry Fray to get copyright permission. Perhaps this was the wrong place to put things which I want to see later.

Anyway as I understand it copyrights in the United States are good for 28 years. If the moderators will note the date involved they will see I have been carrying these songs in my head for 30 years.

If we didn't have moderators we'd grow too bold
Yet our time would still be bought and sold
If rules were eliminated from the plan
Would we still need a Tic Toc Man?
Repent shagbark cries the Tic Toc Man
this thread is getting out of hand
Hear the clock go tick toc- tic toc man
with no towel smiley I'l upbraid you again.

I checked on the duration of US copyrights.
"works created after Jan 1,1978 will be protected for the life of the composer plus 70 years. Works in the initial 28 year period can be renewed... there is a possibility that no renewal was or will be effected and the work is or will be in public domain."
http://www.mpa.org/cguide.html#duration.
Since these works predated 1978 and were done by minor composers who
most likely did not secure or renew copyrights I still maintain they are public domain and should not be hidden by moderators.

There were many times when some unknown artist would take the stage.
I always thought they should have performed this song by
William Hubbell
They floated the dollar, they floated the yen,
and the price of gold is set by five men.
Invest your money now the trouble begins.
-Chorus: See the carnival barkers and the circus clowns
the duck in detergent is floundering around
Would Gold float on Mercury if it ever tried?
would Petro-dollars paper the skies?
The Profit magins are getting tight
The men in the tunnel are searching for the light.
The stock analysts are playing blind mans bluff
None of them knows when he's had enough
-Chorus: See the carnival barkers and the circus clowns
the duck in detergent is floundering around
Would Gold float on Mercury if it ever tried?
would Petro-dollars paper the skies?

There are other less restrictive websites that do not remove things that one tries to remember. Perhaps one day even these will be gone.

those who have CD burners can keep copies of old material. those who don't can't. How much folk art has been lost because of someones interpretation of copyright law?

I heard on CBS Sunday Morning that eighty percent of silent movies have been lost. this is what happens when we let moderators remove things.

Then there was the editor in a writers magazine that spoke of authors citing pre 1923 material rather than modern songs because of the difficulty in obtaining copyright permissions. I have also read where Disney Corporation was attempting to keep the early works of Walt disney out of Public Domain claiming they belonged to the corporation and not the Author's estate. Luckily Walt disney never visited Beaux arts so none of his works ever ended up there.
