The Confederation of Awesome is a territorial micronation that exists in North America, and is bordered by the United States of America. It declared itself independent from the USA on May 5th, 2010. It is a confederated government consisting of four member states. Its capitol is Province, and it has a population of 24. The Confederation of Awesome controls a total of 42 acres of territory. Currently, it is a 2.0 on the Dresner Scale.<BR/><BR/>History <BR/>Founding <BR/>The Confederation of Awesome was founded by two documents. The first was the Declaration of Sovereignty, written by Duchess Emilee Richards, which was ratified on May 5th 2010. The Declaration laid out a list of reasons why the Confederation of Awesome should be independent, and then declared it free from the United States. The Constitution and Laws of the Confederation, written by King Dave Gomez, was ratified May 6th, 2010. It laid out the government and legal system of the Confederation of Awesome. <BR/><BR/>Expansion and Current Events <BR/>The Confederation then began a period of expansion. On September 5th, the Confederation of Awesome merged with neighboring Union of Samian City States, creating the fourth member state- Samia (also known as the Samian States) under President Sam West. This annexation more than doubled Confederation territory. After Confederation citizens were harassed by members of the bordering New Confederate States of America, and Confederation intelligence found the NCSA had agreed on invasion plans, the Confederation declared war on the New Confederate States of America, in what came to be known as the One Month's War. The Confederation's resounding victory resulted in a boosted economy and a gain in territory. On January 21st, 2011, the revised Constitution passed Confederation Congress, creating a more stable government than the previous one. <BR/><BR/>Government and Politics <BR/>Executive Branch <BR/>The USCS is governed by an Executive Council of one Representative from each of its four member states. Current Executive Councilors are Dave Gomez (Davetopia), Sam West (Samian States), Nick Brown, (Nickoli), Emilee Richards (Emiri). These Representatives meet at a council biweekly in the current capital of Province. Executive Councilors also serve as the governors of their respective state. The way each leader is elected varies from state to state, from the Democratic, such as the Samian States, where the Councilor is elected every five years, to Davetopia, a monarchy where Councilors serve for life and then choose their sucessor. In the event of one of three things happens within the Executive Council- 1) a bill is tied in a vote, 2) a majority exists, but it is not enough of one for a bill to pass, 3) Councilors spend more than a month deliberating on a bill, then vote will shift to a tie breaking system with each state receiving a vote out of 12 for the percentage of population they control. Currently the votes are as such- Davetopia is entitled to 3, Emiri is entitled to 3, Nonsense is entitled to 1, and the Samian States are entitiled to 5. <BR/><BR/>Judicial Branch and Cabinet <BR/>The Judicial Branch is a Supreme Justice, who oversees any discrepensies in law. The Supreme Justice is currently unappointed. The government is assisted by five cabinet positions- Secretary of Interior and Cabinet Head (Alex Wilson) Secretary of State (Sam West), Secretary of Treasury (Dave Gomez), Secretary of Defense (Loriahna Brundege), and Secretary of Culture (Xan Pate). <BR/><BR/>Foreign Relations <BR/>The Confederation’s foreign policy is, as described in the first Constitution “The nation of Awesome will start no fights, wars, etc but in the situation that one is started the Nation of Awesome will fight to protect the nation, and all that it stands for.” The nations policy is that it will go to war to defend its citizens or it’s sovereignty, but that it will not initiate a war. This was put to the test during the One Month's War, in which the Confederation had to act to defend it's citizens against the agressive New Confederate States of America. <BR/><BR/>Currently Allied Nations <BR/>The Monarchy of Ashleyia (Non-Agression, Military Alliance) <BR/><BR/>Military <BR/>The Confederation of Awesome has a military force to protect them, known as the Confederation Military. Right now, the only existing branch is the Confederation Army, who protect the citizens of the nation on land. The Confederation Army uses airsoft weapons. There are currently no conscripted soldiers, though a draft exists in the event of a conflict. The Army has four military bases- Nickoli AFB, Davetopia AFB, Weston AFB, and Alabaster AFB. Current Secretary of Defense is Loriahna Brundege. <BR/><BR/>Geography & Climate <BR/>The Confederation exists in the Southeastern US, within the US states of Alabama and Florida. As such most of the nation has a warm climate. It gets up to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and down to 30 degrees in the winter, although in the southern state of Panama City the temperatures are warmer. The nation accepts both the currencies of the Confederation Dollar and the United States Dollar. During September of 2010, an economic survey was conducted assigning each member state an export and role in the Confederation Economy. The results were<BR/>Davetopia: Art and Culture<BR/>Emiri: Agriculture<BR/>Nickoli: Defense and Military<BR/>Samian States: Entertainment (Birmingham), Forestry and Hunting (Alabaster), and Tourism (Panama City) <BR/><BR/>Culture <BR/>The Confederation of Awesome has a very unique culture. Each state has its own distinct customs. Culture in the Samian States is influenced by a combination of European and American cultures, with a hint of Japanese influence as evident in their national symbols. Davetopia and Nickoli have more traditional and religious cultures largely influenced by that of the United States. Their cultures are similar due to their origins as one nation. Emiri possess a unique set of customs based on those of American countercultures. A common theme throughout Confederation culture is that of relaxation or “mellowness.” The national cuisine is as well as energy drinks and Pocky. The nation has no established religion, although it is mostly Protestant, with significant Atheist and Catholic minorities. The national sport is LARPing, and the national animal is the Platypus. Given that it is featured on the Confederation dollar and is widely known throughout the nation, the Blue Whale is also considered to be an unofficial national animal. Ethnically, the country is mostly white, with significant Nigerian and Puerto Rican minorities. <BR/><BR/>
