Alia-mentary, me dear Whatsup.

Wood and stone floors aren't all they are cracked up to be.
The hair collects together and skitters round like tumbleweed, the wet can be seen all the way from the front door to the back because there is nothing to soak them up...and they dry into dust , the water that drips from your hands twixt tap and towel leaves unsightly marks (not to mention the coffee you inevitably spill ), the stone is hard and cold and much worse than carpet burns.....

That was blood, not catsup.

(but it makes it much easier to clean up the baby oil )

The dog hair keeps getting tangled in the mother-of-trailer-park brown and black carpet. The Hoover both pounds dust into the carpet and puffs up old stuff...and the carpet padding has years of dreck embedded in it...
I used to work in a factory where we unloaded used padding from a truck and then loaded new and remanufactured padding into the truck.
I was stabbed in the hand on more than one occasion by bits of metal and wood in the remanufactured padding...
I got carpet burns on my knees so bad one time that I had to wear shorts in mid-winter and everyone laughed at my wounds...but it was worth it.
I dunno. I have lived in some places with some rather nice old wood flooring with a nice hand-rubbed finish.

Some idjit rolled vinyl flooring over the old tile in our bathroom.
I'm gonna have to talk to the landlord sometime about it. The water heater leaked earlier this year and soaked into the floor under the two layers of vinyl...I'm afraid to look.

Two layers of vinyl over old tile? Oh dear, that sounds terribly familiar . Please don't tell me there's chipboard under the tiles and a cement screed under that. . . Be afraid. The kitchen sink is still supported by nowt mair than a coupla two-be-fours. Oh don't look. Bury your head in the sand. Bury the hatchet in the head. Head for the sand in Bury. But don't succumb to temptation.

Temptation? Personally I say succ um and be dammed.

And carpet burns are always worth it dearie.

(and less painful than asphalt burns, or a bed of nettles by light )

Actually, I've been meaning to ask since I saw this thread: what's a "feathered" chat room?

Why? How many have you got?

I think it may be a play on "tarred and feathered" and possibly may also refer to the avatars being "in their fine feathers"??
