Hi Bluebottle,
A really interesting entry.
I'll take some time to finish going through it, and can share my views.

I'll come back with details once I've sobered up, but there's a problem with the first paragraph...ish.

So drunk I couldn't count to two.
The second paragraph starts "A floating bridge or chain ferry is essentially a ferry that travels between East and West Cowes.", which seems to be saying this is the only one there is. It would be clearer to say "THE floating bridge, or chain ferry, is essentially a ferry that travels between East and West Cowes."
Later on, in the description of floating bridges in Britain, you list a total of seven, includng this one, and later describe it as one of only six remaining.
You also mention the access that boats / ships need along this stretch of the river, but don't mention (I assume) that chain sits on the riverbed, rather than being taut enough to sit free of the river. Yes, it's a minor point, but will help clarity.
That's all I could see though. Well done, it's a captivating and interesting read.

Okay, the six has been changed to seven. I've added that the chain sits on the riverbed, allowing vessels to cross over the chain, and amended the "A floating bridge" to "The floating bridge". Good points well made.
Incidentally, the Eric Meadus Floating Bridge painting is currently on display in Southampton Art Gallery until September 2010 as part of the "Sea Fever - Turner To Today" exhibition. It is next to the Lowry's Southampton Floating Bridge painting.

A lovely, interesting Entry Bluebottle, well done. Now, before we hit the big 'accept' button are there any final changes or comments that we need to take on board?

No, I think that's fine. That was quick - it only had a few comments, too!

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
