Chapter 9 to Epilogue

I haven't read "The Time Ships" but it seems to be more interested in Time Travel and the original novel. "Morlock Night" has a pretty pulpy sounding premise that a bunch of kids could come up with. I'm not surprised it's s**t

I don't know how significant it is or how well read the author was, but according to Etymologies (book VII, 15) by Isidore of Seville, 'Eloi' is one of the traditional names of God. Could this be an extension of Nietzsche's 'God is dead' idea with the working classes farming, sacrificing and finally feasting on their deities - or am I in danger of disappearing up my own arse? Did 'Morlock' exist prior to this book or was it a creation of Wells? The only thing I can find on my (admittedly breif) trawl of the web is a surname of Germanic heritage.
