Another one off my listsmiley - biro

I was unsure whether to include the hangman in the famous or infamous section.

I hope there's something of interest here for everyone smiley - smiley

Interesting listing, GB. I thought there was a h2g2 University Project on Issac Newton that you might want to link to for his listing. Great that the list featured scientists and important feminists rather than just celebs and murderers.smiley - biggrin

Hiya Elektra, and thanks for reviewing!smiley - biggrin
I am relieved this is of interest to someone smiley - winkeye
I tried to avoid celebs because they are so fleeting.
I only added the murderers for balancesmiley - yikesbecause they don't deserve to be notable IMHO.

I knew about the Isaac Newton project but it isn't edited yet, and according to the project page A72022934 it hasn't been through PR so there's some way to go yet.

Thanks againsmiley - towel

Very good article! Did it really take that long to write?
You might wish to mention, perhaps in a footnote, that Alfred Lord Tennyson moved to A2773299 Farringford House on the Isle of Wight, near to where Tennyson Down and the Tennyson Heritage Coast have been named after him. I got married in Farringford House.

Thanks BB, smiley - smiley

No, a lot of stuff stalled that year due to my father's illness. I'm going through all my articles which I started and didn't finish.

I've added that info, thankssmiley - biro

Felt a bit sorry for your hangman - he was only doing his job after all!

But I guess infamous also includes infamous in a ghoulish job kind of way, not just genuine bad guys.

Apart from that, I wondered if it wasn't possible to group them a little more? Either by period, or by type? Break up the list a little.

Regards,

sprout

Hi sprout, thanks for the reviewsmiley - ok

I thought the alphabetical list worked, as the text I wrote about each person broke up the list effect. I fear if I group by period it will still be a list, and if I group by type, some will be alone in their group. Perhaps: Sport; The Arts; etc, would that work?? What do others think?

I think the current notable/famous grouping, and then alphabetical works ok. Any further subdivision would just be a smiley - canofworms. If your looking for alternative titles for the two groups, you could try noble/ignoble smiley - 2cents

There were some Lincolnshire medal winners at the London Olympics. Would anyone like them added?

My only other thought is perhaps a footnote or something to say that Captain Smith should not be confused with Captain Smith of the Titanic?

Thanks BB smiley - biggrin

Captain Edward John Smith of the Titanic was born a long time after the Lincolnshire-born Captain John Smith, sweetheart of Pocahontas, so I don't think there's likely to be any confusionsmiley - laugh

(I think you're just after a sneaky link to your Titanic articles?)smiley - winkeye
