As a matter of interest, can you estimate the "long, long time" that the site was in use? How long would it take for 75 feet of rock to be laid down? Are we talking thousands or millions of years?

I personally prefer "quadraped" - its the more scientific name, and everyone knows what it means. And even if they don't, they should, and so reading it in this H2G2 article will be good for them.
Besides which, "Four-legged" sounds like something from that annoying song about friends who'll never let you down....

Another great entry. I knew about dinosaur eggs but not that they 'nested' en masse.
About quadraped, I prefer it too but I thought it was quadruped. My dictionary doesn't have quadraped and says quadruped means four-footed. Obviously a pre metric edition.

Cheers again chaps.
GNOMON - How long is a long long time? Difficult to say, it depends on the rate of deposition and weathering. In a bad (good?) year, a foot or more of silt could be deposited. In a good (bad?) year, as little as an inch or less.
I don't think the detailed stratigraphy reslts are in yet, or even done yet, so this is the closest I could get.
Quadruped. OK. I'll change it just for you

Nice one Frogbit - the editors have been so kind as to accept my latest recommendation.
I'm sure I don't need to go into the editorial process for you.
I'd just like to say that this is one of my favourite ever picks. A very interesting article on one of my favourite subjects!
