I fail at writing too, usually. People tend to say "well, it's quite well written, but there's no plot." That doesn't stop me trying though!
h2g2 is a remarkable place, and that's partly because it has a wealth of places to hone your writing skills. Anyone can write anything for their own pleasure by creating an Entry for themselves. If you would like, you can also put it forward for inclusion in one of the parts of the Guide.
For a factual article, check out the <./>writing-beginners</.> page. It gives you some idea of what the Edited Guide contains. If you think it's ready to go, check out these tips at A293221 to double-check it, and then submit it to <.>Peer Review</.> for other people to read, make comments, and hopefully help shape it into something that can be accepted into the Edited Guide and featured on the <./>FrontPage</.>. You've already got somrthing in the Writing Workshop which is exactly the right thing to do if you're not 100% sure about something. I'll try any get over there and offer some advice about your writing in the next day or so.
If you prefer writing fiction, then the UnderGuide at A1103329 is the place for you. By submitting to the Alternative Writing Workshop you may be picked to get into the UnderGuide.
Finally, if newspaper reporting is more your style, we have our very own newspaper, <./>ThePost</.>! Have a read of the latest article and see if there is anything you feel you could contribute.
If you need any help at all, jsut reply to this posting. If you just feel like getting to know some other people, you can't go far wrong by heading to <./>Askh2g2</.> and haveing a read of some of the conversations there.
I look forward to seeing you around h2g2,
Vip
