Even if I'd previously known about TWM's tortuous history, it would still have been one of my fave historically-accurate and (IMO) not-horror movies of all time.
This was the film which planted in me a seed of curiosity in ancient cultures which continues, some thirty years on, with in-depth studies on the 'real' Arthur, Alexander, Caesar, etc. and the widely different societies they all tried to rule.
