Have to agree it was a very mixed bag - populist but restricted.
On the personal favourites front - No Ducksoup or any other Marx Brothers - sacrilege!
For Disney surely Lion King (or Beauty and the Beast) deserved a mention over Jungle Book, for Hitchcock Vertigo gets in but no Rear Window, 49 Steps or The Lady Vanishes. And where was the Philadelphia Story, The Maltese Falcon or cult movies like Rocky Horror?
And non-English language films certainly didn't get a fair shake. Therefore no Rashoman, Ran, Wings Of Desire, La Regle Du Jour, Les Enfants Du Paradise, 8½, the list goes on and on. English Language good, foreign bad.
