The Acrostic Poetry Challenge: Cinema
Created | Updated Apr 12, 2010
The Acrostic Poem has been a long-standing challenge, mainly between B'Elana and PedanticBarSteward. However, we've decided to open up the idea to anyone who would like to take part, as a regular poetry challenge.
The word chosen each time is the Telegram Game's current word, so if you join in or subscribe to the telegram game you'll know as soon as it's announced. When you've completed your poem, submit it by posting to a new thread below, and we'll put the best of them together in the next issue.
Have fun!
This Issue: Cinema
PedanticBarSteward
Charismatic people like to stand upon a dais,
Invoking in their audience a catatonic haze,
Nebulously spouting words of wisdom or of guile,
Emulating those who have been dead for quite some while,
Maybe we should see them just for what they really are,
Altiloquence and bombast, wrapped up in armourpropre.
Constant repetition of the same old boring themes,
Is hardly stuff for making really memorable dreams,
Neither is the use of all the same old ageing tarts,
Exactly fit for nothing, let alone the thespian arts.
My imagination's fired by the word upon the page,
As it's quite different when you see it done upon the stage.
Bel
Comedy, romances and films in 3D
Intrigue many people who're watching with glee
New films about heroes who're saving the earth
Earning love and respect for what it is worth;
Making a fortune in film and real life,
And being rewarded with a beautiful wife.
