That's true, I recall that too. I think I even read it this summer, though I can't say I remember which one it was.

I think its in Carry On, Jeeves. Is it the one at the girls' school where Bertie has to make a speech?

Yeah, I think I'll add something about that to the entry. As far as I can tell, the story is called Bertie Changes His Mind. I looked up Carry On, Jeeves on Amazon, and clicked on Table of Contents in product information thing, and I remember that that story was the very last one in the book, and this was the last one listed.

Baryonic Being - save GuideML out of a word-processor: A7720562 Posted Jan 6, 2006
Hello. This looks like a very good Entry. I hope you haven't left the site with boredom.
Ways to improve:
- Put the titles of books in italics. You need to use GuideML to do this. Simply put at the start of each title, and at the end of each title.
- Change "or his enemies, Sir Roderick Glossip, and his daughter, Honoria" to "or his enemies, Sir Roderick Glossip and his daughter, Honoria" (remove that comma, otherwise it sounds like it's Bertie's daughter).
- Put line breaks between the paragraphs. You really need to put this in GuideML. If it looks too complicated for you, you might like to take a look at a project I have set up to allow you to export GuideML from a WYSIWYG word-processor (OpenOffice): see A7720562
- "Jeeves' noggin seems to contain all the knowledge in the world, and then some. He is all-knowing and is the ultimate problem solver."
This is tautological. You don't need both of these sentences because they effectively say the same thing.
- In the plot summary, you have put 'Oslwald' once (extra 'l').
- In the Bertie Wooster section you mention 'Roderick Glossip'; that should be 'Glossop' I believe.
- "no way for him worm out of it" -> "no way for him to worm out of it"
- The section called 'Conclusion' does not really start out that way. It would be better to call it 'TV Adaptations'.
- Could you mention whether or not the Jeeves and Wooster stories were the inspiration for the search engine, 'Ask Jeeves'?
Again, well done on a good, informative Entry.

Oh, thanks. I never thought of most of that stuff! I'll have to start working on the entry again today. I stopped for a long time since this thread pretty much died and and the entry was buried at the bottom of the list....Thanks for suggestions.

I have a problem. I just did all the italics like you said, and it worked, but now the whole entry is lumped together as one huge long paragraph. Why did this happen and how do I fix it?

You need...
...to put paragraph tags around paragraphs and header or subheader tags around headers.

Okay, then. How's it look now? But the list of books at the end, and the excerpt in the plot summary is still lumped together...

You'll need to use line-break tags to separate the lines of dialogue in the excerpt. Put one at the end of each line (except for the final line).
The books should be listed with an unordered list. Put around the whole thing, and around each list item (i.e. each book).
Something else you could do is to, after each quote, say which story it's from. At the end of the quote, put a line break (<BR/> and then a dash, followed by the name of the story in single quotes.
This is looking really good!

Sho - employed again! Posted Jan 7, 2006
Lovely entry
I've only read one Jeeves book, and Picadilly Jim but I can't think why I haven't read more.
Laziness I suppose!
This is definitely the type of thing to inspire people to check out the books for themselves though.
Well done.

Very nice! Any suggestions I had seem to have been covered already, so I'll just add my thanks for writing up a terrific series.

Okay, Hows that, then? As for adding the names of the stories from which the various quotes are from, I need to look them up first, so I will get around to that later...

I've done some googling.
'If he has been eating plenty of fish...' = Jeeves in the Offing
'"This is Oswald," said Bingo...' = The Inimitable Jeeves
'She was a pretty enough girl...' = Right Ho, Jeeves
'My Aunt Agatha...' = The Mating Season (I think; not too sure on this one.)
You might want to check up on the last quote, though, as I'm not entirely sure about that.

Oh, gee, thanks. Now I won't have to flip through all of my books looking for those quotes!

Sorry I havn't been on for several days, computer troubles. Bad modem, and we had to take it to the shop, but I'm back now.

So if you could attribute those quotes, please? You also don't need quotation marks around them, since they're already in italics.
This, for example, is how the Aunt Agatha one should look:
My Aunt Agatha, the one who chews broken bottles and kills rats with her teeth.- 'The Mating Season'
All the others (except for the one about Oswald) should follow that format.
Since this is an entry about J&W, not Wodehouse, I think you could replace the bit about Wodehouse at the very end with something about J&W to round it out - another quote would be nice.
Key: Complain about this post
