The 'missing' dalek turned up yesterday, the M.Jackson trial swamped the discovery. Mr.Cottle must be gutted after all that planning - still, he could have delayed for a day when he found the jury was returning it's verdict.

"It'll be interesting to see what the American 'Moral Majority' make of Captain Jack's open bisexuality and him being American and bisexual too"
Well, 'Buffy' was a successful US fantasy drama, it had a lesbian main character and the US religious conservatives didn't have much success in stopping it. Apart from that 1) I doubt the new series of 'Who' will be broadcast in the US on a big station for quite some time (although apparently they've started to notice it's popularity here and it's having some success in Canada) and 2) Jack's from the 51st century and has never actually said he's American.

Don't know about that but they're pretty darn loud on the BBC's main DW site this week.
Don't open it at work with your sound turned on!

Victor Lewis-Smith beat them to it as far as gay Daleks are concerned.

I'd forgotten about Victor Lewis Smith's Gay Daleks. They were hilarious (as was the rest of TV Offal). BBC1 are having a Dr Who feature at 09.05 this morning. Don't they know some of us have work to go to?

Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like Posted Jun 16, 2005
I think I'd be very cautious of describing Buffy as 'successful' in such glowing terms. It usually failed to scrape into the top 100 programmes in the Neilsen ratings and was basically tolerated because it was a) relatively low budget and b) aimed at a good demographic as far as advertisers were concerned.
It certainly wasn't popular enough to register with the Christian Right, who generate media coverage by picking on programmes that are *really* popular.
My guess is the Doctor and Captain Jack would quite happily fly under their radar as well.

Quite, BS. Buffy was a critical success, not a ratings success. Plus, for some reason the Deeply Unchristian Right tend not to notice lesbianism as much as male homosexuality. Odd that. Although I do recall one or two 'ban this sick filth' style newspaper articles.

How uncharitable is it to suggest that might be because they are afraid that they'd really really like anal sex, but do actually know that they would like watching two women together?
Oh, and don't forget, KA, if there isn't a penis involved it isn't really sex.

They're probably frightened of upsetting the Women's Movement
