This sounds like a thinly-disguised return for our old friend 'what's your favourite story', as - for example - I wouldn't nominate a story I hate like Seeds of Death or Warriors of the Deep... It would take some spectacular extras to entice me into buying either of those. What sort of extra features do people want to see, anyway?

no-no its quite different, those are not my favourite stories, but are ones i think that could benefit from being on dvd, because of possible extras-like on The Daemons you could have return to devils end...if the copyrights would let it.

"The Two Doctors" - extras could include the Jim'll Fix It Sontaran story, and possibly even the Children In Need Special, "Dimensions In Time" (although that could appear on "The Three Doctors" or "Survival" as an extra. It should have been on "The Five Doctors" in my opinion as it also features 5 doctors - not taking into account the copyright problems associated with it being a charity story.)

Although, as "Spearhead" included some of the 30th Anniversary stuff (The UNIT recruitment), other programmes recorded for that could appear on any DVD, e.g. the history of police boxes, the information about the missing episodes, the Dr Who Antiques Roadshow etc... I was also disappointed that there wasn't much on "Tombs Of The Cybermen" from "Cybermen, The Early Years". Some of Morris Barry's introduction on that could certainly have contributed to the DVD. (Which has the worst commentary so far on a Dr Who DVD. Victoria/Deborah: "I thought this was a 6 part adventure, no its a 4 part one. Don't trust the cybermen! I don't remember doing that. I don't remember this scene. How did they do that? I'm not in this scene.")

ha ha!your quite right about that commentary-debs and Frazer also did much the same on the tape with the Ice Warriors.Perhaps Dimensions in Time would be include if the beeb thought someone liked it-and sorry I have to admit,I thought it was O.K.What Id like to see in the extras would be more interviews from the time when the stories were first shown-as you say even stuff off those early years videos.

There must be lots of episodes of "Blue Peter" that Doctor Who appeared on - they'd be worth appearing on.
As well as the complaints programmes where people wrote in to complain that Doctor Who was too violent - always amusing. Although the main instances when that happened have already been DVDd - "Tombs" and "Vengeance"...

The story I would most like to see on DVD with commentry etc. is "The Sea Devils", but that's mainly because of it being filmed near my house! Although I believe that the information on how they restored all the episodes to colour was on "Tomorrow's World", which would make a great extra.

I don't think we're ever going to see the charity EastEnders story, simply because there was a special deal made with the unions - people would donate their time and energy for nothing as long as the result was only ever shown once for charitable purposes. (Curse of Fatal Death was a different situation.)

I think Tom was on Jackanory reading The Iron Man (recently filmed as The Iron Giant) and Peter was on reading The Sheep Pig (filmed as Babe). I'd bet cash that McCoy did it at some point or other but have no idea what he read...

What was that programme where you had to write in and say what happened next that had McCoy in.
All the bits in "The Sea Devils" that were filmed at Norris Castle. Although I pass No Man's Land Fort on the ferry a lot. Good mackeral there, too...

I've heard rumours that there are Easter Eggs on some of the Dr Who DVDs, especially "Tombs", but haven't found them. iof you know where they are and how to get them, please say here:

Well, let's see...

On the McGann Movie disc, if you move left from the top section on the main menu, the logo will be highlighted. Press enter for a small, but touching, extra.

If you do the same thing on Spearhead From Space, you get a different treat.

Finally, with Tomb of the Cybermen you're spoilt for choice. On the first screen, you can highlight the logo for one, highlight Mr Troughton's face for another and select the logo on the Audio Options page for a third.

Greetings. On the subject of DVDs, I would like to see the following titles put on DVD.

William Hartnell (The Mutants a.k.a The Daleks; The Tenth Planet - incomplete), Patrick Troughton (The Moonbase - incomplete; The Tomb of the Cybermen; The Abominable Snowmen - incomplete; The Web of Fear - incomplete?; The War Games), Jon Pertwee (Doctor Who and the Silurians; Terror of the Autons; The Sea Devils; The Curse of Peladon; The Monster of Peladon; The Three Doctors; Planet of the Spiders), Tom Baker (Genesis of the Daleks; Revenge of the Cybermen; Terror of the Zygons; The Invasion of Time), Peter Davison (Earthshock; Warriors of the Deep; Resurrection of the Daleks), Colin Baker (Attack of the Cybermen; Vengeance on Varos; The Trial of a Time Lord [Parts 1-14]), Sylvester McCoy (Time and the Rani; Rememberance of the Daleks; Silver Nemesis; Battlefield; Survival).

Keep watching, Earthmen...

I've been nothing but impressed with the BBC DVDs, considering their age, they are jam-packed with extras (apart from The Five Doctors, which was released back in the early days of DVD). With the commentarys & information text, I watch each one at least 3 times, learning new things each time, and all the extras on the DVd are a joy to watch.
The BBC have put a lot of effort into each DVD, and they even put extras on some of their videos, ie "Attack Of The Cybermen" had the "Saturday Swap Shop" interview.
Admittedly they don't contain an extra DVD of bonus features, but we've all seen DVDs of films made last year that have come out with nothing, so for a television series that was made up to 40 years ago, many episodes of which no longer exist, I can only say that all the extras so far have been very impressive.
