A Conversation for Nigel's Gardening Hints and Tips: Sweet Peas
Toilet roll tubes!

They make the ideal pot to start sweet peas in if you aren't sowing them where they'll grow. Just bung up the bottom with some tightly scrunched up newspaper, and they've got a nice, deep root run to get stuck into.
They are the ideal plant to introduce an accountant to gardening - the seeds are big enough to plant individually, count the success rate for each one planted, and work out how much VAT (slug damage ) to allow for.

I like it . The VAT would be high last year .
Good idea with the toilet roll tubes. They will easily rot in the ground and so no potting up would be required. The name escapes me now, but when I was at work we used a type of pot which was made out of a material that rots in the ground. They are fairly expensive to buy and not many people use them now.
Toilet and kitchen roll tubes are something which either gets thrown away or recycled. What better way to recycle them then to grow a few sweet pea seeds in there.
Thanks for reading .
