At our recent meeting, we passed a resolution to campaign for:
1. A smiley
2. A smiley
3. A smiley
A sub-resolution was also passed to propose that in the interest of total fairness, the existing proposal for a smiley be moved up to the top of the list.
We thank you

I have no doubt that your requests are indeed appropriate but those of us north of the border have to remind you that haggis and Barrs Irn Bru have been waiting quietly in the queue for some time since the Scottish Researchers committee had a vote on the matter.
we have no doubt that you will achieve your requests but politely remind you of the queue

Noooooo, wee Sassenach . Although that's not quite right, but I don't know quite how my Celtic brothers refer to the Welsh ? and Aberystwyth IS north of Watford Gap

The Welsh are fellow celts and thus no adverse comments are appropriate.
Strictly speaking Sassenach refers to anyone south of the Highland line

Merely living in Scotland does not of course make you a Scot. We are however magnanimous to Southrons who come to seek the enlightenment of the Athens of the north and it's environs.

I also recall from long chats with my friend Noel that he was a Yorkshireman first and foremost and an Englishman (a very poor) second Acknowlegement of the latter had to be almost dragged out of him.
