Working in a large car factory, I am used to seeing badly spelled and poorly puncuated notices that are posted by semi-literates.

I can forgive the odd advert for an old banger that may have been posted in a rest area by someone with obvious difficulties. However, official company notices often contain errors. The most annoying is, without doubt, the errant apostrophe.

I have abandoned the policy of offering advice. It was hardly ever welcome and often provoked an argument.

My new policy is much more effective.

I RIP THEM DOWN AND TEAR THEM UP.

I don't care who sees me do it. When they ask me what I'm doing, I tell them. It gets a better reaction too. A wry smile or even the odd chortle is not unknown.

The moral is clear.
