I write poetry and science fiction. I also teach poetry workshops. So here's what I'm going to do. I am going to post some workshop lessons I have come up with. You are invited to do the lesson, and let me know how it worked for you.

First lesson:
Remember the WonderTwins? Saturday morning cartoons? They would touch rings and one would take the form of an animal, one would take the form of water in one way or another (lake, ocean, bucket of water, ice cube, ice sculpture, rain drop, etc.)

Here's your task:
Pick an animal - any animal and write 20 words that come to mind describing that animal.

Pick a form of water - and write down 20 words that come to mind about that form of water.
Okay, take your two lists and write a poem using those words (you can use other words, and you don't have to use them all.)
Title it. Send it to me with your comments about the exercise, or just send your comments.

Much thanks. Hope this helps open your mind.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
