One of the oldest holidays still celebrated today. With different cultures many different ways.
The origin goes back to the Druids, a Celtic culture in Ireland, Britain and Northern Europe. There were many superstitions, false believes involved during the times. Originally it was the marking of the Celtic year. Also the end of summer, Harvest time what all gave a good reason to celebrate.
The Celts believed the souls of dead would return and roam the streets at this time. Some were friendly, but not all of them. Therefore it was advisable to leave food or other gifts for them out at the doors.
This became the most exciting part in America for children and for the candy making industries. Not to forget the amazing amount of costumes offered to the children spending handsome money to get dressed anyway you want to. As it’s gets dark late afternoon off they go mostly with scary appearance from door to door to:”Trick or Treat”
You better be ready to fill with goodies the little containers they carry with them.
You don’t want your house to be treated with some “tricks”.
However the road signs are many times sprayed with shaving cream and the trees are decorated with mile long toilet paper. Decorating ideas are endless. But don’t think that Halloween is only for children.
Adults having great variety of parties. But in a little more “wild” fashion.
Though it has been some safety precautions involved in our times children are followed by adults and the parties are also carefully prepared to be safe to have
A Happy Halloween!
