So I thought that you might liek to know a little bit about me, and I would like to check a few things with you. You can find the copy I will use on my page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U177581 .

Here goes:

1) I am a student in the Midlands, and have been on h2g2 for over 6 months this time around. Enough about me.

2) Please tell me if:
a) There is still important stuff in the PR thread to be added
b) You wish to acknowledge someone as a co-author
c) Anything is worrying you
d) You need the process explaining

3) Congratulations smiley - bubblysmiley - choc

Whoami? (at your service)

Gnomon - time to move on

Hi Whoami. Thank you for letting me know you're there. Many sub-editors don't take the trouble to do this.

There was a mix-up over this entry. I submit it to Peer Review, but it was obvious from the comments that there was more work needed on it. I asked the scouts to hold off until I had made the required changes, but someone recommended it anyway. So the version you got is very different from the one I had intended you to get. Can you hold off sub-editing for a few days and I'll finish my entry. Then I'll check it in Peer Review to see if everybody's happy, and finally you can edit that. Is that OK?

This is a difficult one - any changes that you make will not alter my copy, and any alteratins that you make would probably require re-submission. This is something I am not sure about, so I will email Chris Gray at the Towers and ask his advice. I'm sure it can be sorted easily. Don't hurry the article just because you feel it needs to be finished now due to the process - just take the time so that you're happy with it.

This is exactly the kind of reason that I do make a point of introducing myself to people whose entries I am to Sub - it's your entry after all, so it's only fair that you should be kept informed. Apart from that, I mght need some help, and so it's only polite smiley - winkeye.

Whoami?

Hi folks,

If both of you are happy to do this, Gnomon could finish his original Entry, and when it's finished, Whoami? could go look at it using /Test123456 instead of /A123456 at the end of the Entry's URL, copy the GuideML into his version, and then go to work on it.

If the Entry hasn't changed too much, that'll be fine. It sounds like Gnomon was going to add material to it, which would almost always be fine if an Entry was originally accepted.

Does that sound okay? Let me know if any problems arise from this. smiley - smiley

Gnomon - time to move on

I have made the changes now, but I am getting the people who didn't like the original to vet them before I tell you it is ready. You are right, I am adding extra stuff, so all the original is there too.

Great, thanks! How long do you need, Gnomon? Just post a link when you're ready!

Gnomon - time to move on

OK, that's done. Four people have given the new version favourable reviews and no-one has objected, so it is ready. The new version is at:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A634556

You can copy and paste that into your version of the article and everything will be hunky dory.

Thanks. smiley - cheers

Ok, I know this conversation is nothing to do with me and I'm just being nosy reading it, but I just had to say, well done whoami, I've had a couple of articles recommended, and I've only once managed to speak to the sub-ed. Have a smiley - cake
Also, to Gnomon, just to say that your article's looking great. as usual for your work smiley - cheers

Well, just thought I'd reply to say there's currently a subs poll about this - and opinion is mixed. If some people want to have no contact with the authors, it's really up to them. It's just that I like to say hello, ask questions, admit my own mistakes, and often it makes people want to help me out another time. Surely knowing people is better, and especially if they write a lot for the EG. It helps me to know how they work, and to learn their style.

Whoami/ smiley - cake
