Kitchener, Ontario Canada
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
Kitchener, Ontario is located 80 Kilometres (45 miles)***verify these distances*** southwest of Toronto. It is directly adjacent to both the cities of Waterloo and Cambridge. In fact, the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo have pretty much lost their independant identities in a lot of respects, as the phone company and other major services refer to them collectively as Kitchener-Waterloo or KW.***May write entries about these two***
It is located on the Grand River (actually as far as I understand, the Grand river is not so large at this point and is essentially channeled through a series of large underground conduits and man-made channels, so it is indeed ON the Grand River.
Visiting and Travelling within Kitchener
Kitchener (and Waterloo) are served by both Passenger Rail services offered by Via Rail, and by buses operated by Greyhound and other smaller bus companies. The city is also adjacent to the main vehicular artery of Southwestern Ontario--Highway 401.
The Grand River Transit, which is an amalgamation of the old Kitchener Transit and Cambridge Transit authorities, operates a series of interconnected city bus routes that service Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge.
